20/02/05 - Concert band championships cancelled
The annual TYMBA Concert Band Championships, that were due to take place on the 6th March 2005 have been cancelled. Also, due to the date being mothering Sunday, the band will not rehearse either. However, full attendance is expected on the 20th March as this will be the first rehearsal in preparation for the contest season.

15/02/05 - Forums taken Offline
Due to the forums not being used regularly, they have been taken offline. There were also some logging in issues which need to be resolved if they are to be put back online (please say in the guestbook if you would like them back).

25/01/04 - Rehearsal Time
Following last weeks meeting, it has been decided that rehearsals shall now start at 2:00pm and run until 5:00pm on a Sunday. The reasoning behind this is to allow everyone to have lunch before they come to band. As rehearsal time has been cut it is vital that all members attending be on time for a prompt start.

10/10/03 - Design Tweak
To create a more user friendly and accessible design, the site has been tweaked so it doesn't use frames. Included in this design is a new banner, layout and footer. However the colour scheme and overall page design has remained the same.

4 / 6 / 03 - New uniforms and jackets
The band have just acquired new scout uniforms, which will be debuted at Rubery Contest. To accompany the uniforms the band have also brought new jackets with the logo embroided on the front. The uniforms should give the band an entirely new image, hopefully and winning streak and perhaps winning some turnout prizes!

2 / 6 / 03 - Join the Forums!
To replace the dated guestbook I have added a Forum to the website, just click the link on the left. It's simple to navigate so you have no excuse not to sign up and post away! The link will open up a new browser window.

14 / 4 / 03 - Complete redesign and overhaul
A fresh start for the website! It has been given a more modern and sleek look while still staying true to the scouting colours. It is now miles easier to update so expect more of them. As always, there are bound to be teething problems and any mistakes then please notify me on the guestbook. Any design ideas and ways to improve the site can also be posted on the guestbook.

Mace Chucker (aka Carl Nelson) retires
Carl has come to the age where he can no longer be Drum Major (at least not for competitions). Therefore he will be moving on to the Euphonium, which he has been practicing at a number of rehearsals. He has been Drum Major for Halesowen Scout Band for an extremely long time. Throughout his career he has won the National League of Drum Majors and he came third in the World Showband Championships. This year he came second in the National League. No doubt we will be seeing him leading the band on various parades etc in the near future but he can no longer compete in competition. The bands thanks goes to Carl for leading the band for such a long time.

Annual Concert
The band had its annual awards and concert evening on 11th January 2003. Everyone in the band got a small memento to show the bands appreciation for their hard work and dedication over the past year. Special section awards were given to:

Mallets - Kate McDonnell (although, she is the only mallet player!)
Woodwind - Kayleigh Chater
Percussion - Shaun Brookes
Brass - Craig Brookes and Martin Brown

The Band Member of the year, for her commitment to both the senior and junior band, goes to Samantha Chater.

New Webmaster
I (Jack Higgs) have just taken over as webmaster of this site. I will be keeping everything the same for the time being, but when I have the time I will give the site a new updated look. The Bands thanks goes to Dean Ashby for designing and maintaining the site for four years, well done Dean!

Congratulations To Andy Boardman
Our 1st Trumpet player Andy Boardman has left the band after 13 years to start his training down in Portsmouth to become a member of the Royal Marines Band. This is an excellent achievement and on behalf of the band we wish him every success and thank him for 13 years of service in the Halesowen Scout Band.
