Canada 2000 Report - Introduction The Halesowen Scout Band were invited by the World Association of Marching Showbands (WAMSB) to take part in the World Showband Championships in Calgary, Canada in July 2000. The band accepted this invitation and spent over two years fund raising for the event, as it coincided with our 25th Anniversary, so the year 2000 was to be an important year for the band. This was marked by our performances in Canada and at the National Saint George's Day Parade at Windsor Castle. Our trip to Canada took place between Wednesday 5th July and Friday 14th July, and included a performance in the very prestigious Calgary Stampede Parade, several performances in the Calgary Saddledome (home of the Calgary Flames Ice Hockey Team and also home of the Stampede), and also several performances in the Calgary area as part of the Stampede celebrations. The World Showband Championships took place between Sunday 9th July and Wednesday 12th of July. As well as several band performances in and around Calgary, we also visited several places of interest in Canada and took part in a local Scouting and Guiding barbecue and campfire sing song. Details of these events can be found in the diaries. Halesowen Scout Band At The Calgary Saddledome, Canada. World Show Band Championships - July 2000.
